Admissions
Here’s what happens if you’re interested in joining Doucecroft.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
For a child to be considered for our school, we need a referral from their local authority (the group that helps plan schools in your area).
The school is unable to manage enquiries about admissions over the phone. If you would like to enquire about a place, please come along to one of our open events (details below).
Visiting Our School
Our open events between January and June 2026 are now fully booked.
Further dates will be added in due course.
Thank you for your interest in Doucecroft School.
- You can visit the school during an open morning to find out more.
- Our staff will explain what the school is like, but they won’t be able to promise you a place yet.
The local authority must send us a referral for your child.
Once we get the paperwork, our team will carefully check if we can meet your child’s needs.
- If a place becomes available and we are able to meet your child’s needs within that class, we will begin our admissions process
- We’ll gather as much information as possible about your child by talking to people who know them well (like teachers or carers) and reviewing important documents, like their EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan).
- This helps us decide if Doucecroft is the right school for them.
- Our admissions panel (a group of experts) will decide if a place can be offered.
- They’ll look at things like
- How well your child would fit with the other learners.
- Any extra help your child might need.
- If we offer a place we will communicate this with the Local Authority and if this place is accepted we will start transition into school at an agreed date.
- If we are unable to meet your child’s needs, we will not reconsider the paperwork unless needs significantly changed.
We know there’s a lot to think about, and we’re here to help. If you have questions, please get in touch.
