Andy Beevers
Chair of Trustees & School Proprietor
How long have you been a Trustee of Autism Anglia?
I’m not entirely sure! At least 20 years I would say.
What made you become a Trustee of Autism Anglia?
I became involved with the Essex Autistic Society in the late 1970’s when the charity was much smaller. As it grew and became Autism Anglia, I became a Trustee because I wanted to be part of its expansion. I have always been concerned that the staff and the people we support should have the best environment we can provide.
What is your background?
Originally, I served with the Royal Air Force and then went to work in insurance. I then became a Financial Adviser with my own practice in Colchester. I am now retired.
What is it that you bring to Autism Anglia?
Firstly, I am a parent; so I have a considerable understanding of the difficulties experienced by the autistic person, their parents and their carers. I have experience of running a business and also I have a great deal of enthusiasm. I would like to think that I am a good listener and open to new ideas.
What are your interests outside Autism Anglia?
I enjoy the theatre, travel. But most of all, my family.
